I had labs done at an appointment at Unitypoint in Dsm that were sent off for testing. The lab stated there wasn't enough blood for the correct test to be ran. The gal from dsm that called was very nice and stated instead of driving clear to Des Moines again I could go to a unitypoint that was closer. I chose Indianola. She stated she would fax the orders and I could go there for the labs to be drawn. I called Indianola before leaving to make sure they received my orders and was told I would get a call when they were received. A different woman called me back wanting to know why they should be the one doing this order. I told her the issue and she informed me their policy was to only draw their patients blood? That since I hadn't been seen there in the last year I could go somewhere else?? I was seen at unitypoint by Karen Drake a month ago! She then informed me she looked it up and there was several unitypoints closer to me besides Indianola. I asked if you have a policy where you can't draw my blood won't they as well?? No answer. I'm not sure I've ever encountered such crappy service. I've worked in healthcare for ten years and have never heard of turning away a patient. Are the employees here that lazy that they couldn't pull my blood and send it to their Des Moines location? If you aren't a good hearted person you shouldn't work in healthcare.
Love the doctors, nurses and atmosphere.
